Fare prices for bus and train travel using an AT HOP card.

We are currently working through upcoming changes to public transport fares announced in the government's 2023 budget. We will update you as soon as we know more.

You can still enjoy 50% off AT travel fares and concessions until 30 June 2023. Excludes Waiheke and Rakino ferry tickets. For more details, visit Half Price Discount on Public Transport Fares.

Cash payments are not accepted on AT buses. Customers are advised to use AT HOP for payment 

Paper tickets can be used for train travel. You can purchase a ticket from a ticket machine or at one of our customer service centres. Cash fares apply.

Travel off-peak for a 10% discount

Complete your journey by travelling with an AT HOP card before 6am, between 9am to 3pm, and after 6.30pm until end of service on weekdays, and all day on weekends and public holidays. You must tag on during one of these periods for the discount to be applied.

$20 daily cap

Travel all day on trains, buses and inner harbour ferries by tagging on and off with your AT HOP card. Never pay more than $20.

Child fares

Children under 5 travel free when accompanied by a fare paying passenger.

Children 5 to 15 years old are eligible for child fares.

Full time secondary school students 16 to 19 years old are eligible for child fares. Find out about applying for a secondary concession on your AT HOP card.

Free child weekend fares

Note: With free travel for children on weekends, you pay nothing for bus, train and participating ferry travel on weekends and public holidays for children aged 5 to 15 years old using a registered AT HOP card. Excludes Waiheke Island ferry services.

Senior citizen and SuperGold card fares

Senior citizens are entitled to free travel with a valid AT HOP card with a SuperGold concession loaded. Available after 9am weekdays and anytime on weekends and public holidays. For travel prior to 9am on weekdays, the relevant adult fares apply.

Senior citizens are also required to carry a valid SuperGold card or Auckland Transport approved senior citizen ID when they travel on public transport.

Bikes on trains - free
