From Wednesday 1 May, fares and concessions are changing for people under 25 years old.
More details will be available on the website in early April.
With a registered AT HOP card, children aged 5 to 15 years travel for free when tagging on to AT buses, trains and participating ferry services on weekends and public holidays. Excludes Waiheke Island ferry services. The free child weekend fare is not available on cash tickets.
4 steps to start using your free child weekend fares
- Buy an AT HOP card.
- Create MyAT account.
- Register your AT HOP card to get child discount for 5 to 15 year olds (this can take up to 72 hours to be activated).
- Start your adventure!
Step 1: Buy an AT HOP card for your child
If you don't have an AT HOP card, then first find out where you can buy a card. You need the card number to be able to register the card.
Step 2: Create MyAT account
For parents or caregivers, first decide how you want to manage your child's AT HOP card as there are two options for how you setup the MyAT account and register the card.
Step 3: Register your AT HOP card to get child concession for 5 to 15 year olds
Login to MyAT and register your AT HOP card. If you are under 16 years of age, a child concession will be applied automatically when you register your AT HOP card with the correct date of birth.
How long before the child discount is active on your card or shows in your online account
After registering your AT HOP card, your child discount concession will be available after it has been processed (usually within 24 hours, but can take up to 72 hours), and will show up in your online account only after you tag on. Tag on within 60 days otherwise the concession discount will expire, if that happens, contact us and we can reload it. Remember, you will be charged adult fares until the concession is applied to the AT HOP card.
Once you've tagged on and the concession is loaded to your AT HOP card, this will show as 'child' on your AT HOP card on your online account.
