Overview

We will be installing new road markings and signs on Red Hills Road in Massey to improve safety.

Our investigations show that work is needed to warn drivers about the bends and give better visibility along this winding rural road. It will reduce the likelihood of a crash and ensure everyone gets where they need to safely.

Work is scheduled to take place from 1 to 5 June 2026 as part of Auckland Transport’s Road Safety Programme. A works notification letter is being sent to affected residents.

Please note that wet weather may delay the start of work. If this happens and the delay is significant, we will let you know.

What we'll be doing

  • Installing skid-resistant surfacing on the sharp bend (between 83–56 Red Hills Road).
  • Painting a solid, wide centreline (between 205–85 Red Hills Road).
  • Installing an electronic curve warning sign near 83 Red Hills Road.
  • Installing reflective raised markers along the centreline and road edges, and new reflective edge markers.
  • Installing additional advisory signs like advance speed and curve warning signs.

When we'll be working

Between 1 June and 5 June 2026, closures may happen both day and night.

Dayworks will be between 7am to 6pm. Nightworks will be between 7pm to 6am.
