Why the changes are needed

We are proposing these broken yellow lines to improve accessibility for larger vehicles to 12 Bassant Avenue, which is used as a storage depot for heavy plant.

Proposal outcome

This project will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning. Thank you to everyone who submitted feedback. A summary of this feedback and answers to community questions and concerns is below.

Feedback received

  • The respondent suggested that the property owners be asked to conduct maintenance of their berm in exchange for the parking removal.
Whilst Auckland Transport cannot force property owners to maintain their berm, we have passed this onto Auckland Council who will consider maintenance work there.
  • The respondent asserted that the gate to number 12 should be widened before parking removal is considered.
Auckland Transport carried out vehicle tracking before this proposal was consulted on. It was found that the driveway of #12 would have to be significantly widened to accommodate large trucks tracking out. Also, driveway widening would result in on-street parking loss. However, there is sufficient off-street parking available on most of Bassant Avenue.

Next steps

This work will happen in this financial year, but we will let you know if there are further changes or delays. Our contractors will send notices to affected residents 48-hours prior to construction starting.
