Why the changes are needed
Changes near the driveway are needed to increase visibility for drivers entering and exiting the busy driveway of the Auckland Sailing Club, improving road safety at this location.
Currently, cars parked there are blocking driver sightlines. We are proposing to move the bus stop slightly, so road markings align with the position of the bus shelter, improving our service for bus travellers in this area.
Proposal outcome
This project will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning. A summary of the community feedback we received and answers to questions and concerns is below.
Feedback received
- The proposal is supported but a further ‘upstream’ extension than the current 7 meter strip is suggested. The existing proposal provides appropriate sight distance for drivers exiting from this high use driveway, and longer lengths of the ‘No stopping at all times’ restriction would be considered to be excessive.
Next steps
This work will happen before June 2019, but we will let you know if there are further changes or delays.
Our contractors will send notices to affected residents 48-hours prior to construction starting.
