Why the changes are needed
The proposal aims to improve visibility and accessibility primarily for pedestrians using the crossing facilities at this location. Cars parking along this narrow stretch of road frequently block access to the pram ramps.
Proposal outcome
This project will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning. Thank you to everyone who submitted feedback.
Feedback received
- Requests to extend the proposed broken yellow lines along D’Oyly Drive directly north of the intersection with Donald Street to improve visibility for drivers turning out of Donald Street.
Our investigations do not suggest that visibility is significantly impacted at this intersection when vehicles are parked along D’Oyly Drive. The location of the existing limit line should allow drivers sufficient visibility to turn out of Donald Street safely. Parking directly around an intersection is prohibited according to the NZ Road Code and is therefore enforceable. Should you observe this in the future, please contact AT Parking Enforcement on 09 355 3553.
Next steps
This work will happen on or before June 2019, but we will let you know if there are further changes or delays. Our contractors will send notices to affected residents 48-hours prior to construction starting.
