Why the changes are needed

These changes are needed to reduce the distance pedestrians are required to cross over Garadice Road which will improve the safety of road users at this location.

Proposal outcome

This project will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning. See a summary of the community feedback we received and answers to questions and concerns.

Feedback received

  • Concern that building-out the kerb will make it difficult for vehicles to turn left onto Montgomery Avenue from Garadice, and will contribute to congestion in the area. The new kerb build-out does not restrict turning movement for vehicles. The changes improve safety with minimal impact on congestion.
  • Concern that building-out the kerb will make the intersection more dangerous for turning drivers. The kerb build-out does not significantly change turning movements. Visibility will be improved for drivers and amenity will be improved for pedestrians.

Next steps

This work will happen between August 2018 and June 2019, but we will let you know if there are further changes or delays. Our contractors will send notices to affected residents prior to construction starting.
