Why the changes are needed

The changes aim to improve accessibility on Knights Road for large vehicles, including rubbish trucks and emergency service vehicles. Currently, cars parked along both sides of the road are preventing many of these vehicles from reaching the end of Knights Road.

Proposal outcome

This project will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning. Thank you to everyone who submitted feedback. A summary of this feedback and answers to community questions and concerns is below.

Feedback received

  • Suggestion that properties along Knights Road have ample off-street parking. We recognise that properties along Knights Road do currently have off-street parking. However, we believe that maintaining some on-street parking will encourage lower vehicle speeds along Knights Road, thereby improving road safety.
  • Request to install broken yellow lines on both sides of the road to ensure truck access through to the end of Knights Road. Our investigations suggest that removal of on-street parking along one side of the road should be sufficient in ensuring vehicle access. Maintaining some on-street parking will encourage lower vehicle speeds, thereby improving road safety. We will however continue to monitor this street following implementation.

Next steps

This work will happen on or before June 2019, but we will let you know if there are further changes or delays.
