Why the changes are needed
These changes will increase visibility and accessibility for vehicles pulling in and out of Maylee Crescent onto Gulf Harbour Drive. Parked cars along this narrow road have been obstructing visibility and access.
Proposal outcome
This project will not proceed as we received mixed feedback with some concerns raised by respondents. A summary of the community feedback we received and answers to questions and concerns is below.
Feedback received
- Concern that these restrictions will encourage cars to enter the street at faster speeds. As the proposal is not going forward, parked vehicles will make the road appear narrow to drivers, this should encourage slower speeds.
- Suggestion to only install restrictions on left hand side of street up to the first driveway. We recognize the importance of on-street parking as a resource and only install broken yellow lines where there are significant accessibility or safety issues. The proposal will not proceed, so parking will not be impacted.
- Concern that residents will not have space for parking as a result of these changes and request for new parking bays in front of properties surrounding proposed broken yellow lines. This proposal will not proceed, so there will be no removal of on-street parking at this location.
Next steps
Based on public feedback we will not be proceeding this proposal.
