We've proposed changes in your area
The Mangere Otahuhu Local Board and Auckland Transport (AT) proposed a new roundabout at the intersection of Bader Drive and Idlewild Avenue in Mangere. The proposed changes included three raised pedestrian crossings, a left turn only entry and exit for Comet Crescent, and traffic islands on all approaches to the roundabout.

Why the changes are needed
These changes are needed to improve traffic flow at this location. Currently significant queues form as it is very difficult to make a right turn due to the volume of traffic on Bader Drive.
Proposal outcome
This project will proceed with minor changes to the next stage of detailed planning. As a result of community feedback, the western pedestrian crossing will be moved one meter closer to the roundabout.
Thank you to everyone who submitted feedback. A summary of this feedback and answers to community questions and concerns is below.
Feedback received
This proposal received positive responses from community members and stakeholders who supported improvements to traffic flow and pedestrian facilities.
- The pedestrian crossings need to be at these locations to provide adequate stacking space for exiting vehicles, otherwise traffic operation will be affected at the roundabout. We have moved the western crossing slightly closer to the roundabout as a result of your comment, but due to driveway accessibility constraints the crossing could only be shifted a metre closer.
Next steps
This work will happen between June and December, but we will let you know if there are further changes or delays.
Our contractors will send notices to affected residents 48-hours prior to construction starting.
