Why the changes are needed
These changes are needed to improve safety and visibility issues at this location.
Proposal outcome
This project will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning. A summary of the community feedback we received and answers to questions and concerns is below.
Feedback received
- Extend the broken yellow lines further along Atkinson Road, and on both sides. These suggestions will not be incorporated because removing parked cars from both sides of Atkinson Road is likely to cause an increase in traffic speeds along this straight stretch of road.
- Extend the broken yellow lines further south on Atkinson Road to include properties 166 and 169. Our surveys show that the extension of parking restrictions is not required at this location. This proposal aims to minimize the removal of on-street parking whilst ensuring there is sufficient space for vehicles to access Atkinson Road.
- Extend the broken yellow lines to Woodfern Crescent. Parking restrictions are only implemented where a significant safety or accessibility issue is identified. Our surveys show that the extension of parking restrictions is not required at this location. This proposal aims to minimize the removal of on-street parking whilst ensuring there is sufficient space for vehicles to access Atkinson Road.
- Extend the broken yellow lines further north to the bend in the road, as cars parked there are a hazard to cars approaching the bend. By installing the proposed broken yellow lines, the visibility for drivers along this road will increase, therefore minimising hazards along the bend in the road. Our surveys show that the extension of parking restrictions is not required at this location.
