Why the changes are needed
These changes will improve access for emergency service vehicles and rubbish trucks, and will improve visibility for residents on this narrow road.
Proposal outcome
This project will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning. A summary of the community feedback we received and answers to questions and concerns is below.
Feedback received
- Request to extend the broken yellow lines for the entirety of Caspian Close to ensure safety for vehicles. These suggestions will not be incorporated because parking is a valuable asset for the residents, and the proposed changes are due to a need for better accessibility, not safety. Therefore extending the broken yellow lines for the entirety of the street is not appropriate.
- Request to shorten the road island on Rata Street, which allows cars to turn right on to Rimu Street, as the length of the road island poses safety concerns. Because this request does not relate directly to our proposal, it has been referred to the relevant team within Auckland Transport to be investigated further.
Next steps
This work will happen between July 2018 and June 2019, but we will let you know if there are further changes or delays. Our contractors will send notices to affected residents 48-hours prior to construction starting.
