Proposal update - 8 July 2018
In November 2018 we asked for community feedback on our proposal for a new footpath and crossing on Metcalfe Road in Ranui.
While these works were scheduled for June 2019, the detailed design process has taken longer than anticipated. Construction will now start in October, but we will let you know if there are any further delays to our plans. Our contractors will also send notices to affected residents 48-hours prior to works beginning.
More details about the original consultation can be found below.
We've proposed changes in your area
We proposed a new footpath on Metcalfe Road in Ranui. The proposed works included a raised zebra crossing of Metcalfe Road near the Illana Place intersection. This proposal is part of our footpath programme, which aims to improve pedestrian accessibility all over Auckland.

Why the changes are needed
These changes are needed to complete a missing link in the footpath network along the road. The path will enable safer and more convenient walking journeys along Metcalfe Road, as well as a safer crossing point to access bus stops on each side of the road and the ABI Rehabilitation Centre.
Proposal outcome
This project will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning. Thank you to everyone who submitted feedback.
Feedback received
This proposal received positive responses from community members and stakeholders who supported these improved walking facilities in the area.
Next steps
