Why the changes are needed

These changes are needed to prevent parked cars from blocking driver visibility for those exiting Pinot Lane.

Proposal outcome

The proposal received mixed feedback with some concerns raised by respondents. After reviewing this feedback and all other supporting evidence, the proposal will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.

Feedback received

  • Concerns over the lack of parking in this area as there are many people working and using services in the Massey area and this proposal would reduce car parking facilities. We acknowledge that there is high demand for parking in this area and that parking is a valuable asset. However, there are inherent visibility issues at this location so we deemed it necessary to remove some parking in order to address it.
  • Respondent is concerned that the punctuality of the buses in Massey isn’t reliable enough to replace peoples cars. Although the removal of parking is inconvenient, it was deemed necessary in order to address safety issues at this location.

Next steps

We expect to introduce this work between July 2018 and June 2019, subject to further changes in design or funding issues. Contractors will issue 48-hour notices to all affected residents prior to construction work.
