Why the changes are needed

These changes are required as cars are blocking access for larger vehicles such as rubbish trucks and emergency vehicles using Woodford Avenue and Penders Places. The removal of these parking spaces will also improve visibility for vehicles navigating the intersection.

Proposal outcome

This project will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning. A summary of the community feedback we received and answers to questions and concerns is below.

Feedback received

  • Respondent believes that the road is often quite clear and has plenty of space for moving traffic. An Engineer has been onsite and assessed the road, there is a large number of cars parking on the road obstructing cars from passing. More space needs to be provided so vehicles can pass by.
  • Respondent has raised concerns over staff from Waitakere Hospital using Woodford Avenue as free parking. We have considered that parking is at a premium on Woodford Ave with the hospital being nearby. Therefore a balance has been provided between parking requirements and the need to maintain reasonable public access.
  • Respondents believe that more Broken Yellow Lines are required at various points along Woodford Avenue and Penders Place to make this proposal effective. We accept that vehicles parked on the road can often be an inconvenience, however, there is a need to provide a balance between the parking requirements of local residents, and the need to maintain reasonable public access to the road. With the hospital being nearby parking is at a premium. After the installation of Broken Yellow Lines proposed the road will be monitored and Broken Yellow Lines may be extended if found necessary in the future.
