In October 2019, we proposed a new P5 Loading Zone on Lansford Crescent in Avondale. This proposal responded to a request from local businesses to address an issue with oversized vehicles loading and unloading on the road and blocking traffic. This loading zone was expected to improve road safety and access by providing a designated loading area for trucks servicing businesses on Lansford Crescent.

Proposal outcome

We have listened to community feedback and have decided that this proposal will not proceed to the next stage of detailed planning. Most respondents felt that this Loading Zone would only benefit one or two businesses and would not successfully improve safety on the street, while also taking up valuable parking space. This shows us that most local businesses are not in support of a P5 Loading Zone on Lansford Crescent.

Feedback results

  • Request to reduce the size of the Loading Zone by 50% in the case of strong opposition to the proposal.
    Most opposition for this proposal involved the lack of safety improvement from the proposed Loading Zone, as well as its location and the parking loss it would entail, rather than the size of the Loading Zone. This Loading Zone was proposed primarily for heavy trucks and reducing the length would have not accommodated those trucks and would have resulted in more safety issues.
