Proposal outcome
In May 2022, we proposed changes to improve pedestrian safety in Henderson by upgrading the pedestrian crossing facilities on the slip lanes of Lincoln Road and Te Pai Place.
After reviewing all your feedback, we are proceeding with the work as proposed.
These works will help support our Vision Zero goal. This proposal is supported with funding from the Auckland regional fuel tax.
What happens next
We anticipate the changes will be constructed in the second half of 2022. However, if there is any change to this programme, we will update this webpage accordingly.
Community feedback
Here is a summary of your feedback and our responses to community questions:
- Request to ensure that speed ramps will be raised enough to slow vehicles down.
Our speed tables are designed to meet traffic design standards to slow vehicles down to appropriate speeds.
We're proposing improvements in your area
We are proposing to:
-
Upgrade the slip lane crossings of Lincoln Road and Te Pai Place intersection to raised zebra crossings. The crossings will be raised to the same level as the footpath.
-
Install tactile pavers at the approach of the crossings. Tactile pavers are yellow guidance paving markers that help visually impaired people find their way to the crossings.
-
Install Belisha beacons or orange-coloured discs, at the approach to the crossings for additional visibility at night.
-
Install advance warning signage to inform drivers about crossings
