Warkworth Community Transport Hub is now operational Warkworth Community Transport Hub is now operational

Auckland Transport Media Release
12 September 2022

The new Warkworth Community Transport Hub at 80 Great North Road is open for use.

The Hub offers 137 car parks (including 15 short term and four accessible parks), a bus layover, bike parking, two toilet blocks, CCTV security and lighting. Footpaths lead to two new bus stops on SH1, connected by a signalised pedestrian crossing.

The new park-and-ride facility was opened by the Rodney Local Board in July but NX2 Group and Waka Kotahi needed to complete works in the area before the bus stops and pedestrian crossing could operate.

Funded by the Rodney Local Board Transport Targeted Rate and delivered by Auckland Transport, the Warkworth Community Transport Hub provides a central space for bus commuters needing to park their cars or bikes, before travelling north to Wellsford, and south to Warkworth township for connections to Matakana and the Kowhai Coast, and onward to connect to the Northern Busway and Auckland destinations.

Local bus users will not notice any difference to current bus timetables:

  • The 998 bus between Warkworth and Wellsford will include the hub along its route;
  • The 995 bus between Warkworth and Hibiscus Coast Station in Silverdale will extend its route to include the hub later in the future at a date yet to be advised; and
  • Kowhai Coast bus routes will remain the same until the Te Honohono te Kai - Matakana Link Road is open to the public.
