You can submit a request for our team to review your Auckland Transport infringement. Please allow 10 working days to receive a response.

To query your infringement notice, you must:

  • be the registered owner
  • use your legal name when submitting your query.

If you were the driver of the vehicle at the time of the offence but are not the registered owner, you'll need to transfer liability to yourself and provide a statutory declaration.

Infringement not showing online

If your infringement details are not showing online, it may be because the infringement was issued within the last 24 hours. Please try again later today or tomorrow. If the problem persists, please contact us.

You will need to know your infringement notice number, and vehicle registration (licence plate number) if it is a vehicle infringement. After you have viewed the infringement details, you can choose to pay or query the infringement.

Note: We are currently experiencing difficulties uploading infringement images. Images, where available, will be posted online 5 to 10 days from the date of the offence.


Late submission of query

Late submission of a query is when there are less than 10 days before the final due date for payment.

If you are submitting a late query, please contact us to advise of the urgency required in dealing with your request.

  • For vehicle, parking, bus and transit lane infringements, call 09 355 3553.
  • For harbourmaster infringements, call 09 355 3553.
  • For public transport infringements, call 09 366 6400.

If you are not able to use the online form, you can download, print and post a form to us:

You can also write us a letter. Please include these details in your letter: 

  • Infringement number
  • Vehicle registration number (if vehicle infringement)
  • Your full name
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • A contact telephone number
  • A copy (not the original) of any supporting documentation you have, such as proof that your car has a current evidence of vehicle inspection.

Query a paid infringement 

Only in exceptional circumstances will AT issue a refund for a paid infringement. Although you can submit a query about a paid fine, please note that by making payment, you have admitted liability. 

If you have paid the fine and want to submit a query, please contact Auckland Transport on 09 355 3553.

If you submitted a query before paying the fine, your correspondence will still be reviewed. 

You will receive a response within 10 working days, informing you that: 

  • we will proceed with the infringement notice, in which case payment has already been made and the matter is closed, or 
  • the explanation warrants a cancellation of the infringement notice and payment will be refunded. 

Query for customer who has died

A query can be submitted to request a waiver for someone who has died. Family members, Power of Attorney or Executors of a Will can submit the query.

Please include a copy of one of the following documents with your request:

  • Copy of the death certificate
  • Copy of order of service, for example, from the funeral service
  • Copy of a death notice, for example, from a newspaper.

We appreciate that this can be a difficult task for family and friends. We respectfully ask that you provide us with the required information so we can provide a response as quickly as possible.


Court hearing

You can request a court hearing by completing and returning the court hearing request form. This form must be received by Auckland Transport before the last day for payment of the infringement (56 days from the infringement issue date). When we receive this form, we will advise you of the next steps.

Failure to inform Auckland Transport of your intentions to request a written submission, defended hearing or make payment by the due date may result in the infringement notice being lodged with Baycorp or the Ministry of Justice.

Supplying the requested information does not guarantee that the infringement will be waived.

Stolen vehicles

If you wish to advise that the vehicle issued with an infringement has been stolen, please provide this information with your query:

  • Proof vehicle was stolen, for example, a police report
  • Date when the vehicle was reported stolen
  • Whether the vehicle has been recovered

Breakdowns

If you wish to advise that the vehicle issued with an infringement had broken down, please provide this information with your query:

  • Proof of breakdown, for example, a mechanic's report or tow receipt
  • Date when the vehicle was broken down
  • Whether the vehicle has been repaired

Medical emergencies

If you wish to advise that there was a medical emergency when the vehicle was issued with an infringement, please provide this information with your query:

  • Proof of emergency, for example, a hospital report or doctor's report
  • Date of the emergency

Parked in area reserved for disabled persons

The infringement may be waived if a valid permit can be provided. This exemption will be offered one time only, if both the driver and cardholder have not received a prior warning.

The infringement may be waived if the mobility card was expired but you can provide proof that you have applied and paid for a new card within 10 days of the infringement.
