We've proposed changes in your area

We proposed No stopping at all times parking restrictions around the cul-de-sac on Rymer Place in Mangere. Our proposal responded to a request from the local community to address the issue of parked cars blocking driveways at the end of Rymer Place. This would include the removal of approximately 1 parking space.

Why the changes are needed

These changes are needed to improve access for larger vehicles, including emergency services.

Proposal outcome

This proposal received positive responses from community members and stakeholders who supported these minor parking restrictions to make it safer for all those travelling along this road. This project will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning. Thank you to everyone who submitted feedback.

Feedback received

  • We received a request to extend these parking restrictions to the entire cul-de-sac on Rymer Place in order for larger vehicles to turn safely in a single movement, rather than a three-point turn.
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We do everything that we can to retain on-street parking because we understand the value of this amenity to the businesses at this location. Our assessment of the street, including measurements of the road, suggests that even with parking restrictions around the entire cul-de-sac, larger vehicles would still need to make a three-point turn to turn. This request will therefore not be incorporated in our plans.

Next steps

This work will happen by October 2019, but we will let you know if there are further changes or delays. Our contractors will send notices to affected residents 48-hours prior to works beginning.
