New Network for the North Shore New Network for the North Shore

On 30 September 2018, Auckland Transport (AT) launched a new bus network on the North Shore. There are new bus routes, new route numbers and new timetables.

Download the timetables or use our Journey Planner to explore your new travel options.

The New Network on the North Shore is part of a simpler, more integrated public transport network for Auckland.

New Network North Shore Map

What this means for the North Shore

Auckland’s old bus network tried to run bus services from everywhere to everywhere else. This resulted in a complicated bus network made up of many, often infrequent, services.

As our population continues to grow, Auckland Transport needs to make some bold changes to the bus network to keep the North Shore moving.

We have designed a simpler bus network. There are fewer routes, but more buses coming more often, particularly 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week. Services are better connected.

You may need to transfer between services to complete some journeys. Fewer areas have direct services to the city centre. Instead there are better connections with the Northern Busway where you can transfer to frequent services to the city centre.

Northern Busway services

NX1

The NX1 connects Hibiscus Coast Station, Albany Station, Constellation Station, Sunnynook Station, Smales Farm Station, Akoranga Station and Britomart (Lower Albert Street).

Albany Station buses run:

  • At least every 5 minutes at peak times.
  • At least every 10-15 minutes at other times.

Following congestion at Constellation on 1 October 2018, AT has changed the operation of the station.

  • We have temporarily reduced the number of NX1 and NX2 trips that terminate at Constellation Station.
  • Albany Station and Hibiscus Coast Station-bound buses use Platform C in the afternoon peak (3pm to 8pm) and Platform D at all other times.
  • The 861, 901, 906 and 907 services use Platform B in the afternoon peak and Platform D at all other times.
  • New on-street bus layovers have freed up space within the station.

From 4 November 2018, the 95C, 120 and 843 services will use two new bus stops on the bus-only road that connects the station and Sunset Road.
