Partial lane closure - drive with care.
14 November 2023
Works will resume on the second slip at 40 Otitori Bay Road on 20 November 2023.
A full road closure will be in place 24 hrs a day, seven days a week. Works will take place between 7am and 7pm.
Pedestrian access will be available up until 8.40am in the morning and after 3.30pm.
Vehicles will not have access through.
The works will take up to 9 weeks to complete.
8 August 2023
Retaining wall work on the site at 40-42 Otitori Bay Road is paused for further investigation, and whilst resources are made available.
Footpath and kerb work through this section will be continuing.
Auckland Transport and its contractor Ventia wish to notify you that pedestrian access ONLY (on foot only) will now be available 24/7 on Otitori Bay Road through this site.
Vehicles will not have access through.
We will advise you before any further changes to access through this section of the road.

#13-#15 Paturoa Road
- The underslip has occurred below an existing timber pole retaining wall, which although still physically remaining in place, has likely been significantly undermined.
- An Overland flow path is running through this location which will have to be considered during the Design phase along with existing SW network which might need to be reviewed.
- Temporary traffic management/ weight limits are in place until repairs are completed
#15 Paturoa Road
- An underslip extends from the driveway of 12 Paturoa Road for 23 m to the north-east.
- We are working on the design of the repair.
- Temporary traffic management/ Asphalt bunding/ Polythene sheeting are in place until repairs are completed.
7 December 2023
We are working on the final stages of the design for this slip repair. We plan to start works on the repair in the first quarter of 2024. We anticipate the works will take up to 4 months to complete. The road will remain closed whilst works are completed.
Vector will be working to move the powerlines prior to road repairs starting. The powerlines can be seen in this picture below.
The road is closed at this section and there is no through access. The access to Arataki Visitors Centre is only open from the Titirangi End.
Please note there were also 10 slip sites between this site on Scenic Drive and Woodlands Park Road. These are also being worked on. 7 of these sites are completed with 3 more in the design phase.

Work continues on the design of the repair, we will be able to notify the community once the design is finalised, before works start.

#9 Takahe Road
Additional site investigation took place Friday 18th August to determine the constructability of the preliminary design.
Additional survey of the site was completed on Friday 25th August, which has been passed onto the design team for review.

#32 Takahe Road
- The underslip has occurred on the embankment of the road extending into the southern bound lane of the road.
- There are 2 main items that will need to be reviewed during the Design phase:
- A 390 diameter CLS WW rising main is running through the location.
- An Overland flow path is also going through this location.
- Temporary traffic management/ Asphalt bunding/ Polythene sheeting are in place until repairs are completed.

#11 Takahe Road
The road is open to residents only and the geotechnical assessment is complete.
- Remedial design is underway

4 August 2023
Slip #1
- An underslip has occurred mostly in the northbound lane of the road. The slip comprises road subsidence with tension cracks. A depression has formed from the middle of the southbound lane to the road mid-line.
- Traffic cones have been placed on the side of the road to warn traffic of the hazard and will remain until the road is repaired.
- Design currently under investigation, with a possible retaining wall and reinstatement of the damaged road pavement as an option
We will continue to monitor the site until works starts.
Slip #2
- A deep underslip (~20 m high) has occurred on a considerable section (~15 m long) The slip is located on the road shoulder. The shoulder is at the crest of an approximately 4 m width by 3 m high vertical slope.
- An Overland flow path is running through this location which will have to be considered during the Design phase.
- Temporary TTM is in place until repairs are completed.
30 October 2023
Works are completed on this site. The retaining wall and the footpath were damaged in the storm and have now been replaced.
13 September 2023
In late August we removed polystyrene cover to undertake further soil testing and evaluate the extend of the slip.

153 Woodland Park Road -
- An underslip has undermined the shoulder of the local road. Open fractures were observed in asphalt adjacent to slip.
- There are 2 main items that will need to be reviewed during the Design phase:
- An open watercourse is running through a 1200mm pipe under the road.
- An Overland flow path is also going through this location.
- Cracks have been sealed and temporary traffic management in place until repairs are completed.
