Your first trip made easy
STEP 1 - Plan
Plan your journey, find your nearest bus stop, and check your fare using our Journey Planner or the AT Mobile app.
STEP 2 – Payment
Choose your payment method – AT HOP card, debit or credit card, or smart device. Please note cash and EFTPOS are not accepted on buses.
You won’t pay extra to use the 379 with other AT buses and trains. Just make sure your transfer between services takes no more than 30 minutes, and you tag on and off each service using the same payment method. You must complete your journey within four hours.
Find out more about public transport fares including discounted concession fares and our $50 7-day fare cap for AT HOP card users.
STEP 3 – On the day
Get to your stop a few minutes before your bus is due in case it is running early, and track your bus in real-time using the AT Mobile app.
Wave to the driver as they approach your stop, to let them know you want to board.
Tag on and off the bus with the same payment method, even if you’re transferring to another bus or train. To tag on and off, hold your payment method flat against the reader – there are readers beside both sets of doors.
There are no changes for school buses
The Ministry of Education has no immediate plans to review their school buses with the introduction of the 379.
Prior to any changes to Ministry-funded school buses, the Ministry engages with schools to ensure these changes are carefully managed.
Any enquiries relating to Ministry-funded school bus services should be directed to the Ministry of Education at st.auckland@education.govt.nz
