Why the changes are needed
This proposal will improve the visibility for residents as they leave their driveways on this arterial road. Parked vehicles are limiting the visibility for residents leaving their driveways and causing them to come into conflict with vehicles exiting the roundabout.
Proposal outcome
This project will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning. A summary of the community feedback we received and answers to questions and concerns is below.
Feedback received
- Request for more traffic wardens in area to enforce changes and existing restrictions. Please contact us on (09) 355 3553 anytime with vehicle details, and enforcement will be organised.
- Request for yellow lines to be extended further along East Coast Road past number 559 to improve visibility. We acknowledge that on-street parking is a valuable and shared community resource. Therefore its removal is only carried out where a significant safety or accessibility issue has been identified. Additional broken yellow lines cannot be justified, however if a vehicle is parking within one metre of your driveway and blocking access, please contact our call centre on (09) 355 3553 anytime with the vehicle details, and enforcement will be organised.
Next steps
This work will happen in between July 2018 and June 2019, but we will let you know if there are further changes or delays.
Our contractors will send notices to affected residents 48-hours prior to construction starting.
